iMac hardware upgrade

I have a late 2015 iMac 27-inch 5k with a 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 with 8GB 1867 MHz DDR3 memory (2 four-GB cards installed) and a 2GB graphics card. It’s running macOS Catalina version 10.15.6. I am in to photography and want to be able to use Adobe Lightroom Classic fairly regularly and sometimes concurrently run Photoshop. As of right now, running LR will cause the computer to stall and restart, rendering LR unusable for me. What can I upgrade to get this machine running Lightroom smoothly for me? Looks like I could maybe add a couple of 8GB ram cards, or maybe also replace the two 4 gig ram cards with 2 eight-gig ram cards so I’m running 4 8GB ram cards. Would that make a big difference? Does this machine also allow me to physically upgrade the graphics card? Would that also speed things up? If possible, could I get a short list of things to do to get this computer running at optimal speed? Thanks for the help!

Does this machine also allow me to physically upgrade the graphics card?

No. Starting with the 2012 iMacs, the graphics hardware change from socketed to soldered to the logic board. It cannot be changed.

Beyond that, we would be doing your a disservice if we offered further upgrade options without first asking for hard performance data. There could be something else slowing your workflow. Fortunately there is a safe, secure way to do that.

Run it, select “Report" from the left-hand pane (scroll down to the bottom of that pane to find):

When its report displays, click the "Share Report" icon from EtreCheck’s toolbar and then "Copy report” from the resulting dropdown.

More memory will help - Photoshop and Lightroom are memory hogs. Your computer has 4 memory slots each of which can be configured with a 16GB card for a max of 64GB of RAM. The last time I used those two programs I was running with 32GB at work and 16GB at home. I noticed a distinct difference between the two and the work computer was actually a slower computer.
