transferring .mpl files from canon camcorder

i have a brand new canon hf r10 camcorder and the files it creates are .mpl. my imovie and quicktime pro will not play these files. how do i get them to play? please help. i was told that canon was VERY compatible with my Mac... what do i need?

iMac G5, Mac OS X (10.5.8), iMovie 04 / Quicktime pro.

so after some research it looks like my processor is to old to convert avchd files. can anyone recommend a good converter so i can turn my high def video into a .mov file or something that i can edit in i movie? THANKS!

Hi

I think the program needed is Voltaic for Non Intel Macs.
