I have contacts on my iphone that don't show up when I use "Messages" on my Macbook. (receive a message from a number only - no assigned name). All of my contacts are synced and these same contacts DO show up under "Contacts" on my Macbook. How do I remedy this? Thanks.

In this situation, we would like for you to start with checking the iCloud settings to make sure Contacts is checked:
Change your iCloud feature settings - Apple Support
Next quit Messages and restart it and try again.
Then restart the computer and try again.

Contacts were already checked on both my phone and MacBook. I have rebooted both devices many times without resolution of the problem. Thank you.
