Macbook

Hi there, I have an older iMac and a newer Macbook Pro. As I'm working from home I'd like to use the iMac as a second screen. I've seen some how-to's about it online and I bought all the necessary apple cables and keyboard even but it doesn't seem to work. Does someone know how to get it to work? Thank you so much!

A USB-C to Mini DisplayPort cable or a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort adapter and m/m Mini DisplayPort cable.

Keep in mind that the 2009 27" iMac supports Mini DisplayPort cables and not Thunderbolt 2 cables.

Thanks both! In the end, what worked for me is using the right cable: just plug it in and it all works just fine. I bought this one, but I see there are other third parties cables available too: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/HN8B2ZM/A/mophie-usb-c-cable-with-mini-displayport-connector
