Good evening, I just bought the iphone 6s and I can not do a software update. At the moment the software it has is 12.5. I connected it to iTunes on my computer and it shows me this (your iphone software is up to date. ITunes will automatically check for an update again on 15-Jan-21). How else can I update?

No, you didn't. You bought a 6 (or 6 Plus).
It can't run anything higher than 12.5.
If you were told it was a 6s return it and get your money back. You were deceived.
A device running iOS 12.5 can not be an iPhone 6S. Instead, it has to be an iPhone 5S, 6, or 6 Plus. Neither can be updated further.
