Settings to overcome AirPods Max muddy bass?

There's too much bass and voice calls or speaking vids (e.g. YouTube) sound muddy.  Ironically I can adjust them to near perfect (for me) on an Android device as it allows equalizer apps to work across all apps.  On the iPhone, using Headphone Accommodations under Accessibility, I can tune audio for Vocal Range but it's not enough.  Maybe I'm missing something; is there another adjustment setting so I can understand voice calls and speech on apps like YouTube?
