HomePod not connecting to iPhone bluetooth so I can't play my library from my phone.

When I opened the package and plugged the HomePod Mini in it went through the installation process on my iPhone but didn't establish connection on Bluetooth which means I can't play my iPhone library. Everything else works: Siri, iTunes...all that: just can't play my own library.

No, it means you must use AirPlay rather expecting HomePod to behave as a Bluetooth speaker would. See Use AirPlay to stream audio - Apple Support.
