Why is the iCloud Browser login notification email always sent to the iCloud email?

It means that whoever logged in, can just delete the email immediately so unless you happen to be online at the time you will never see it.

I have a different email setup for iCloud notifications but the web login warning still gets sent to the iCloud email.

When ever an Apple ID is signed at appleid.apple.com or at www.icloud.com a mail appears in your web account or the account that is configured with mail application ( IMAP account ) and it comes from apple server and it verifies that you have signed in , you might have different mail set up ( say example1@gmail.com ) but the notification will always appear as it has been allowed https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/change-notifications-preferences-mh40583/mac

Whoever can log in if its other person rather than you will see if you reveal Apple ID and password and rest of credentials to him otherwise not .

Sorry but, maybe I wasn’t clear. I know an email is sent when there is a login.

The point was that the email is always sent to the iCloud email, even though I have a different email set up for notifications.

This means that if someone logged into the account they can go straight to the iCloud email and delete the warning message, So you wouldn’t know about the login.

Maybe this is the wrong place for this and I should try to report it to Apple themselves.

Who ? rather can sign in your account from other place unless you reveal the credentials and they will delete the mail .

In mail preferences - composing section if you had selected set new messages from @gmail.com it doesn't matter this is for when you send mail messages to recipients it select this mail address .

The Apple ID example1@icloud.com is signed in system preferences , whenever it is signed on web portal it takes time to appear in web account ( it comes through apple interconnected servers ) and then appears in mail application .

See these screen shots .
