How can I upgrade High Sierra on my iMac Late 2009 Model 11,1

I have iMac Late 2009 Model 11,1, currently running High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G14042). I need to upgrade to macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or to macOS 10.14 (Mojave). I am planning to upgrade to SSD (1 TB) & 32 GB Ram. Would that be enough for me to download either of the installers and start running them ? Any recommendation is much appreciated and I would be thankful for.

The last update a late 2009 iMac will do is High Sierra, that is the end of the road. If you want to run Catalina you need a 2012 or later iMac. Sorry, you have reached the limit on your current computer. IF you want to run later versions of Mac OS it's time for a new(er) computer.
