Downgrading from Big Sur on an older MacBook Pro

I need to downgrade back to Catalina asap. When I look at all of the help, they all require my computer to allow booting from external media. However, when I do a safe boot an open Security Utility, it does not open up a bigger window to allow external boot. Please HELP!!!!!

Thank you!

Have you adjusted the settings for the T2 chip to allow alternate booting and alternate Installs?

Before you blithely set a firmware password, remember that there is no back door. If you forget that password, you will need to take your computer to an Apple store with your proof-of-purchase to get it reset.
