Help with Slideshow on MacBook Air

I’m having troubles running a slide show from basic folders on my MacBook Air (2020 model). I open the folder containing the pictures I want to see in a slide show. I do a “select all” and then open with “preview.”

Once they are in preview I can scroll down and select “slide show” then each picture appears for about 3 seconds which is great. The problem is, after each picture appears, the picture then breaks, and half of the picture us black and the other half is just the bottom portion of the picture again. (Sorry, hard to describe) but you see a picture fine then the next picture you see is the same one, only half of it is black and the other half is the bottom portion of the picture.

Why is this happening and how do I get it to stop? I just want to see each pic in a rotation, not each pic twice with the second one being broken in half and part of it blacked out.

Any advice or suggestions to make this stop would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

MacBook, macOS 10.13

Hi there m86,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you’re trying to create a slide show in Preview. We’ll be happy to help.

It sounds like the specific images or format of the images may be the issue. Does this happen with any images? Do they come from the Photos app on your Mac? If you haven’t done so already, try a different set of images, and see if you get the same results. You can also create slide shows in Photos, as detailed here: Create slideshows in Photos on Mac. We hope this helps.

Best regards.
