Can I add RAM storage in an iMac late 2013?

hi!I have one iMac late 2013 and I look to upgrading ram, actually 8gb, i could installing 16gb, but on my iMac missing the ram compartment door to the back!what could be the procedure to adding ram on that model of iMac?

The ram on your iMac is not user serviceable, only the 27” iMacs had the ram access door on the back.

Older 21.5 inch models have ram slots so the RAM can be upgraded by a service engineer. Later models don't: all the RAM is soldered to the motherboard and can only be upgraded prior to purchase. Look for your model here:

As to taking it apart, it's very difficult to do, and not encouraged for users. I don't know whether any instructions are available but it involves removing the screen. You'd need to be very confident in your abilities.


And remember:

  1. You have to be able to put it back together, and that's not easy either.
  2. Apple won't help you if you muck it up.
