Keep getting error trying to login to iMessage

My new iPad will not let me sign into iMessage but I am able to access iTunes/email. It just keeps saying error when I try to sign in. How can I fix this?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 14

Go through the suggestions in here. If everything fails, and you still can’t sign in after 24 hours, contact Apple for help. There is a link that you can use included in the article.
