Depending on your location and the vintage of your MacBook build model year series

costs can vary. ~ Some older ones are not going to see an official repair due to age.

• Mac Repair - Official Apple Support

https://support.apple.com/mac/repair/service

Other times some independent Apple authorized service business can fix issues and

make older continue to function. After a certain time, an independent repair may be

an only hope. When retail parts are no longer available, you may consider learning DIY.

• Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple

https://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/

At some locations, you may be able to ask Apple to use a 'send-in' service; this can

vary in cost from initial inspection; as more is learned about the status of Mac.

• Apple Repair and Repair Status Check - Official Apple Support

https://support.apple.com/repair

To see what sales, services, repairs ~ may be available nearer your location:

• Apple - Find Locations:

https://locate.apple.com/

Older Macs may find some options where you could attempt solutions yourself

there are a few DIY sources that (may or not) be suitable for inexperienced users.

Later models of Mac hardware require higher level of technical skill to attempt

a do-it yourself; once opened by unauthorized non-Apple tech, no help for you!
