What is launchservicesd?

Hello there! I've noticed that a process called launchservicesd is constantly using 0.2 - 5% CPU. Does anyone know what this is and if I should be concerned?

Nothing at all to be concerned about. It is a normal functioning process within macOS that tracks and coordinates information about running applications on the system. The more applications that are running the busier it will become.
