Find my iPhone won’t work

I lost one of my AirPods in my car and when I tried using find my iPhone to make it play a sound it didn’t play anything. So I tried seeing if it would make my airpod/case that I had play a sound and that didn’t work either even when I connected it through Bluetooth.
