My iPhone SE has begun to show black lines across the face and then the screen turns black and takes a long time to come alive again. sometimes for many hours. The phone has become unreliable. What's wrong and can this be fixed?

Hmm, it seems like that it is time for a new phone.
However, if you have a repair location near by, it might be worth it to have them check it:

Thank you, MrBill3! My usual tech person said it's probably a hardware problem and it would not be an easy or inexpensive fix.
