where are the number of items per folder listed?

The number of items per folder used to show at the bottom when you would open up a folder and in Big Sur they're missing. I'd like to be able to see the number of photos in the folder listed at the bottom when I open the folder. Is there a way to make it show in System Preferences or otherwise?
