If you have a 2012 or later Mac…
Open in Safari, other browsers won't work.

Click once on your Desktop.
Click File in the menubar, select New Finder Window.
In the New Finder Window from the Sidebar click on Applications.
Scroll down to Install macOS Mojave.app, move it to the Trash
empty the Trash.
Connect your mac to your router via cable.
Restart your mac, go back to the App Store Mojave download page
it should now say Get or Download, not Open.
Do not use the mac while it is downloading or any other devices that
share the same internet connection.
To use my tax program this year I need at least Mojave OS, and my printer runs on 32 bit, therefore I need to be running Mojave OS from my MacBook Air, (which I had upgraded to High Sierra. The laptop is a Mid 2015.
Found and checked App Folder. The only OS in the folder is macOSSierra. It doesn't seem that I should delete this as it will then not have any OS! Since there isn't a Download for Mojave in the computer, as it won't download in the first place, I don't understand how going into the Safe Mode would allow me to download the Mojave OS download since in the land of PC's 'safe mode' usually doesn't let you download any programs while it is in 'safe mode'.
In the Applications Folder, drag the Install Sierra Application to the Trash Bin on Desktop. Right click Trash and click Delete.
As @ dialabrain suggested, restart the computer by holding the SHIFT key immediately on powering on the computer. This will be Safe Mode. Trust @ dialabrain when he says it can be downloaded in this mode ( Safe Mode ) This is macOS NOT Windows so works differently. Then follow his instructions and use ONLY Safari which will automatically open the Apple Apps Store and allow download the Mojave installer. Once it is Downloaded - Stop There. If it tries to launch - quit it. Now, again restart in Safe Mode like before, and launch the new Application in Applications Folder Install Mojave and follow the instructions that follow.
Opps! I think that I previously said that I have a Macbook air. I don't. My laptop says on the back that it is a MacBook Pro. Does this matter? Also the "Time Machine" is set to update all of the time. Is this the 'back up' needed? My tool bar for some reason no longer has the "Applications Folder" nor the "Launch Pad", so we need to search again for the applications folder, which I am sure that we will stumble across if we keep looking for it. Can you tell us if there is a faster way to find it? Thank you. We really appreciate all of the help!
Delete any copy of "Install macOS Mojave" from the Applications folder.
Try again while in Safe Mode.
When I click on your link it tells me: This copy of the Install macOS Mojave application is damaged, and can‘t be used to install macOS.
I'll try. I'm not real versed in computers, (being 70 years old), and my daughter who has a PC, (not a Mac), is trying to help me. We can't seem to find the Applications Folder, only the App store.
