Can US bought Homepod be used at 240 volts?

Hi, I have a recently US bought Homepod (not Homepod mini) and wondering whether it will work at 240 volts?

I see prior community question on this in 2018 which said it was fine and referred to the Apple tech specs page from that era noting that the Homepod worked between 110 and 240 volts. However, the Homepod tech specs page today (January 2021) has no such notation around voltage. The page and the user guide is weirdly quiet on it.

I spent some time on the phone with an Apple specialist and he could not be definitive on this point. He too was confused as to why the voltage comment was taken down.

Hmm, that is really odd.

Electrical and Environmental Requirements

  • Operating temperature: 0° to 35° C (32° to 95° F)
  • Relative humidity: 5% to 90% non-condensing
  • Operating altitude: tested up to 3,000 metres (10,000 feet)

No mention of the electrical requirements in a section with the heading Electrical and Environmental Requirements.

HomePod works fine here in the UK, and as you note that information used to be there. I had a quick peek at the WayBack Machine and here is the information that was there as of October 9th 2020.

Electrical and Environmental Requirements

  • Built-in power supply
  • Line voltage: 100V to 240V AC
  • Frequency: 50Hz to 60Hz
  • Operating temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)
  • Storage temperature: –4° to 113° F (–20° to 45° C)
  • Relative humidity: 5% to 90% noncondensing
  • Operating altitude: tested up to 10,000 feet (3000 m)
  • Maximum storage altitude: 15,000 feet (4500 m)
  • Maximum shipping altitude: 35,000 feet (10,500 m)

As far as I know all full-sized HomePods are suitable for the voltage ranges given above, the only difference being the plug fitted in different regions. I can only assume the text has been altered to avoid possible misinterpretation with HomePod mini in case anyone tried to stick 240V up the USB C cord.
