My old ipad 2 suddenly required Activation but could not be activated. Even connecting to itunes could not yield any result. Although I have a new ipad Pro, I dont know if this has anything to do with it bcos I use both due to the separate apps.

My old ipad 2 suddenly required Activation but could not be activated. Even connecting to itunes could not yield any result. Although I have a new ipad Pro, I dont know if this has anything to do with it bcos I use both simultaneously. I have tried suggestions like removing and replacing sim cards, using other servers at different locations but no dice.

Kindly assist, and how do I prevent re-occurence?

iPad 2, iOS 9

Read this support article "If you can't activate your iPhone [or iPad]" - click here --> https://support.apple.com/HT201407 - "If your iPhone can't be activated or an alert says the activation server is unavailable [or cannot be reached] or the SIM card is unsupported, learn what to do."

It would not surprise me if older equipment was starting to have serious problems with Apple's servers. Support has long ended for the iPad2 and iOS9 and it is quite old now. You can contact Apple as instructed in the link but they will likely politely tell you they do not support your model anymore and go out and buy something newer. Been there; done that. Sorry, I know where you're at.

It may seem like apple is deliberately blocking older ipads to force people to buy the later products. Why should an ipad suddenly block out and need reactivation? I have apps with critical data which could not be migrated to the new 2020 ipad pro and I need them. If this is the case then Apple must include this specific warning in their documentation. This does not happen to my android phones or tablets or older computers. If I am unable to resolve this, it means a loss of critical data that will have severe consequences on my work. I am considering giving up my ipad pro to avoid this disaster happening again.

This is an ipad2 Model A1396 with IMEI: , Serial No: DM***FJ3
