Ok, bought Canon pixma printer, now it says I can not update software as it is old version. So I can not download proper application for it. Angry? Furious! Could someone please help me with this? Hello,

If you go to Canon's (UK) support page (https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_ts_series/pixma-ts3150.html?type=drivers&lan) for the PIXMA TS3150, there is the following message for macOS Big Sur:

"This product is compatible with the operating system selected using AirPrint only - a driver is not required.

The move from Canon drivers to AirPrint has been made to improve the user experience as any future updates will be applied automatically through your operating system.

For details on how to print via AirPrint and troubleshooting information please visit our AirPrint guide."

Also, see About AirPrint - Apple Support .

This means that you can use this printer without special drivers from the printer manufacturer.

Firmware is software for the printer itself. You may want to check that the latest firmware has been installed:

https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_ts_series/pixma-ts3150.html?type=firmware

Under More details -> History for the Printer Firmware Updater (Mac) for TS3100 series Ver.1.2 it says:

"[Ver.1.2] - To improve the printer quality. - macOS Big Sur (11.0) has been added as a supported OS."

Inform Apple of This:

Canon probably has yet to do their part in Big Sur capabilities. Apple and Canon are two separate companies. So, let Apple know about this incompatibility issue. Apple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what to include in updates to come.

So, Provide the Feedback:

  1. Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
  2. Select: "Software/Hardware Compatibility" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Select: "Printing" for the "Feedback Area"
  4. Proceed from there as necessary
