Skype running in background makes all sound controls inoperable
I have had this problem for a few days - all sound controls for anything, even with the headphone controls have no effect. The volume bar goes up and down but the sound stays consistently low, with no change. Even the phone button and ring sounds are low.
And then I figured out all this happens while running skype in the background. If i quite skype then everything works as it should. Is this a skype problem or an iIOS problem?
I'd guess that with Skype running in the background, it's overriding the volume controls.
I'm not familiar with the multitasking API, but I would assume that it should be resolved on Skype's end. After all, iPod can be running in the background and not do the same.
Had that problem as well and this is because skype takes over and switches to the top speaker which is very quiet obviously.
To fix it, make a call on skype and switch to speaker. Then you can hang up and continue run skype in the background but this time the sound will be fixed.
I have the same problem .. but it is intermittent. It usually happens after I place a skype call (but doesn't happen every call). Restarting Skype solves the problem. It definitely doesn't happen when Skype runs in the background without placing or receiving any skype calls. Using iPhone4 OS 4.0.1
While Skype is running on a phone call or monitoring for calls, it takes over audio control as the primary source. You can try and adjust it in three methods:
* iPod
* Settings-Sound
* Search on Skype app for the settings and volume adjustment
