Mailbox will not "show" on the Apple Mail sidebar

I have added a new Gmail account to my Apple Mail app. The account works fine, except the mailbox for that account will not "show" in the sidebar. I can add mailboxes into that account and they appear if I drag an email over to the account but then all the subfolders "auto hide". How do I get all the subfolders of that account to stay visible?

Mail inboxes Since updating to BigSur, Mail does not merge all of my gmail accounts into one Inbox. I have to open all the different Inbox accounts separately. There is no choice in preferences to have all the inboxes open under "all inboxes". Does anyone else have this problem or know if it can be solved? Thank you!

unable to open account folders in apple mail I can see the top level folders for my email accounts in the sidebar of there Apple Mail App but I can't open any of them and I also seem to have lost some of the 'Favourites' as well as the 'All New Items' (Not sure if that is the right way it is titled). Not sure what to do........
