"stuck" background photo

I placed an iPhoto picture as my monitor background using the "set desktop" command in iPhoto. Now I can't get rid of it - I can select any other choice in iPhoto or wherever but the first one returns whenever my system wakes up from sleep.

Could this some sort of desktop preference list corrupted file? Something I should delete and start over?
