iMovie on M1, support live cameras

Has anyone had success using an external camera via USB to record a live stream with iMovie running on M1?

I recently purchased an M1 based Mac Mini to use for live recording of a lecture series.

I'm am struggling to find a camera that will work with the M1 chipset for live recording into iMovie.

The "supported cameras" list from Apple doesn't align to the information Sony provides, as Sony says the M1 devices are not supported for Live View, and it appears iMovie doesn't work without the Live View function.

So far I've tried a couple of older Sony and Panasonic cameras with no luck.

I've also tried using EpocCam from Elgato on iPhone11 but selecting the EpocCam on the import screen freezes iMovie.

Any help is appreciated.
