Get address for your provider: Delete mail acct. set-up new one, go to next page, enter outgoing server address from provider under "Host" and click done, worked on my ipad and iphone..:-) I entered smtp.att.yahoo.com under Host, clicked done, and it worked. Site has other providers addresses. I use At&T..this happened after I lost it on an upgrade. I could access it using 3G, and the computer, just not Iphone or Ipad...good luck.🙂
I have an ipad first gen for 2 years and have had this problem twice. both times a reboot fixed this issue. considering that I deal with hundres of emails a day from 4 accounts, that does not seem like a huge enough isue to throw out the iPad
I just started to have the same problem with one of my mail accounts on both my iPad and iPhone. My other email works just fine
