Big Sur Upgrade

How can I tell if the Big Sur upgrade is running on my MacBook Air? It is stuck on the window asking where to install it. I clicked Continue but it doesn't appear to be doing anything

Hi SandyT4,

If the macOS Big Sur installer is stuck on the screen you described, it isn't performing the upgrade, and is instead frozen. Try doing the following to restart the process:

  1. Right-click (Control-click) on the Install macOS Big Sur app in the Dock.
  2. If you see the option "Force Quit", click on it to forcibly quit the installer. If you see "Quit" instead, click on that.
  3. Relaunch the Install macOS Big Sur application from the Applications folder. Or, search for it using Spotlight (Command-Space).
