End Waze in Car Play

Ever since I installed the 14.1 update, Waze will not close when using Apple Car Play. I don’t always need Waze to be running and using data. I only want to use it when I need it. I’ve tried stopping a route, but it still tells me of thing I’m approaching like a rail road. And I’ve even tried closing the app from my phone, all to have it re-launch and continue telling me things coming ahead.

I drive a 2020 Chevy. How can I get Waze to work, only when I need it?

I just installed 14.3 update hoping it was fixed, not so.

"3. Restart your iPhone and your car."

"6. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
