The Caption/Description, ObjectName/Title, and Keywords/Subject should be seen in Preview's IPTC Info panel and also in Finder's Get Info. But that info panel is quite small to view any longer text (I use GraphicConverter to edit, view and search those fields).
But currently Big Sur Photos fails to export them to .jpeg. They are exported only to .tiff and .png or as a sidecar .xmp with the original photo (and currently that .xmp has location coordinate flaw in western and southern hemispheres).
You would have to export it with these checkboxes selected before sharing:
That will embed the metadata into the image file so it can be read by apps that can read metadata.
Thank you. I exported a photo from mac photos with a title, description, and key word to my mac desktop, using the process you forwarded to me. When I opened the exported file on the desktop I saw the title but could not find a way to see the description or the key word. I was hoping I could use the description box of the photos photo to type in information that could then be read in a photo I could send by email or social media.
