Allocating Memory

I have a 13-inch 2020 MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur (Version 11.1). I play The Sims 3 through Origin and the performance is very low. I am wondering: how do I allocate more memory to a specific application on macOS Big Sur? I figure that having more RAM designated to the game might boost performance.

RAM is automatically allocated. I think your best bet is to open Activity Monitor, select the Memory tab and see if there are any applications you can shut down in order to free up memory. Another thing to check is swap. If you aren't using any swap, then lack of memory probably isn't the issue.

In general, take a look at Activity Monitor while you're running Sims to verify what systems resources are being used.
