macbook air to samsung tv with hdmi cable displaying 'no signal'

Hi there,

I am having trouble connecting my macbook air to my samsung tv with an HDMI cable.

I have tried two different HDMI cables (both brand new) and the same thing has happened.

  1. at first, it works fine
  2. after a few days of use, the tv displays 'no signal'

I have tried the following things to fix it:

  1. resetting the SMC on my macbook
  2. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201177 all of these steps
  3. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/thunderbolt-to-hdmi-problems.1631182/ checking my firewall is off
  4. checking the input source on the samsung tv

Please could I have some help to fix this?

I am having trouble getting through to any other kind of apple support.

Thank you,

Natalia

Hello Natalia,

We are glad that you reached out to the Apple Support Communities with your questions. We want to help you locate the answers you need. It sounds like you have done a lot of great steps so far. If you haven't had a chance, check with the display's manufacturer to make sure you're using the cable they recommend. You can find more information here: Use an external display with your MacBook Air.

Cheers!
