iPhone 8’s plus- no notifications lock screen

I’m not getting any notifications on my lock screen. iPhone 8S plus. I’ve checked all the settings I know of to correct this and still no change. I hear text sound when they come in and see a notification then. But on any apps like my aol mail, Facebook, even my phone messages and various other apps, I get nothing. I’ve powered down and back again as well as checking settings. They all come through on my iPad. I thought it might be a carrier problem but apparently not since they are on the iPad but not phone. Help!
