Microphone delay

When I want to ask Siri a question, or I want to record a voice message, there is always a bit of a delay between me pressing the button and the microphone finally picking sound up. For voice messages, this delay is over 3 seconds and is very annoying.

Anyone have a solution?

mirkoooo,

Thanks for getting back to us. Since this is also happening with FaceTime, it does appear to be an issue with the Mic and service is likely required. However, we can still isolate this a bit further by restoring your iPhone to factory settings: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings. Just be sure and have a backup made as suggested in "Get your device ready."

If the issue still occurs after the restore , please visit Contact Apple Support.

Cheers,

Hi mirkoooo,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help with Siri. It sounds like you press the button to use Siri and encounter a slight delay.

Does this happen on multiple networks?

Have you restarted your iPhone? Restart your iPhone

Are any updates available? Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Does the same thing happen if you use Hey Siri instead?

"Set up "Hey Siri" to help Siri recognize your voice

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Siri & Search.
  3. Turn off Listen for "Hey Siri," then turn it back on.
  4. When the Set Up "Hey Siri" screen appears, tap Continue.
  5. Say each command that you see on your screen.
  6. Tap Done."

How are the mics working in other apps? If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working.

Let us know how it goes.

To the first the questions - yes. This problem has been going on for a long time now.

I can't activate Hey Siri, because the microphone doesn't pick up anything in the set up process of Hey Siri.

The 3-4 second delay occurs when I use Siri, when I send voice messages via iMessage (but not via other apps), and when I'm recording a video with the FaceTime camera. I am presuming that all of these use the same microphone.

The confusing part is the delay, because otherwise the microphone works just normally, it just needs time to start picking up the sound (the time is always the same, between 3 to 4 seconds, as I stated above).
