Phantom Chess Piece on Chess Big Sur

So, I'm very new to chess, and this might be a general chess question! If so, I'd love advice both technological and chess-related. I moved my pawn to e7, then black moved rook to e8 and this phantom queen appeared to the left of the board! What is this indicating? I couldn't find anything about it in the chess help or information. Thanks in advance!
