Only for sentimental reason (don't get me wrong, I'm happy with new iPhone 12 Pro and MacBookAir Silicon) I'd like to get my old iPhone 2G running, maybe with WIFI at home only. Last step of restoring asks for activation via iTunes 8 on an old lap. So far I learned there is an Apple server necessary for the activation, which is not running any more.
Is there a solution to get the device (almost historic now) running?

Hello,
Yes, you'll need a valid SIM card (temporarily) to get by the activation. If you can find one that will fit, you just need to borrow it temporarily, to get past the activation step.

Tried that (even finding a card, which fits ;-) ), but got the negative activation message :-(
