My iPad won’t factory reset
is there a different way I can factory reset my iPad other than pressing the power button and home button at the same time?

You are describing a forced-restart of the iPad. This button-sequence that you describe will not force a Factory Reset of the iPad.
If you are looking to Factory Reset an iPad, you’ll need to follow this procedure:
Restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod to factory settings – Apple Support
Should you instead be looking to reset the iPad - and can unlock the device to reach iPad Settings - you can fully reset the iPad settings and wipe any existing data:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings
You should note that this is not, of itself, a full Factory Reset - but is as close as is possible without reinstalling a fresh copy of the most recent version of iOS/iPadOS supported by your model of iPad.
