There isn't a way to search for music that is personal choice within Music and then iTunes Store.

Where is the search bar in iTunes to search for music that is personal choice? I'm using Big Sur and within Music and iTunes Store I can see what you want to show me, but I have no way of finding an artist by searching for them or to search for a specific song. Why is this?

Figured it out. The only way it seems to work is if I restrict the music service from opening.

The problem is that this instruction is not accurate. When I first go into Music, these options are not there. To get them, one has to first click on the three horizontal bars in the upper right.

I have presumed that this is because I tried Apple Music for a while, but could not see any value. I still had to pay for any music that I wanted. Nothing was free, though Apple wanted $9.99 every month.

This morning my password for this site did not work, so I gave up and chose "Forgot." When I tried to reset it to my known password, Apple says that this password has been used in the last year. No kidding. I think that the Music app is a mess.

It sounds like you didn't follow all of the steps I described -- if you want to search the iTunes Store you need to click that after clicking in the search box in the sidebar. If you don't you will be searching only in Apple Music -- the streaming service.

I wish what you said would work, but when I search in the bar on the left it brings me into the music subscription part of the program and will not let me search within the music that they will sell to me. It seems like they are trying to make customers subscribe to their streaming service and not letting people search within iTunes to buy music of their choosing. I checked my preferences and I do not have iTunes hidden or other. When I search for an artist their window pops up every single time to subscribe to their streaming service for $9.99 per month.

Open the Music app on your Mac, click in the search window at the top of the sidebar on the left and then click iTunes Store at the top right of the main window. Then use the search window at the top of the sidebar on the left to search.
