How do I stop airdrop from switching screens and opening finder on macOS?

I airdrop from my iPhone to my Macbook often and find it mildly annoying when my Macbook switches screens and opens finder whenever I airdrop. For example, I am uploading a picture on Google Chrome when I airdrop an image from my phone, my screen switches from Chrome to desktop to open finder and show the image in my downloads. Is there a way to stop this? Is there a way to just keep the screen on Chrome when I airdrop instead of switching to desktop every time?
