Note Taking - Apple Notes

I have transitioned from Notability to Apple Notes (the native app on iPadOS, etc.) and the app does not let an individual write on either side of an inserted image or text, etc.

Why?

Is there a way to be able to write next to an inserted image?

No.

There isn't any way to do this. Among many things the Apple Notes apps will NOT do.

Apple Notes will be a huge downgrade from Notability, btw.

There are many text and image manipulations that Notability can do that the Apple Notes app can’t.

Not too mention NO pagination in the Apple Notes app, either.

You might want to rethink this decision.

If you have not been comfortable with Notability, have a look at Good Notes.

ANY third party note taking app is far better than the basic, barebones Apple iOS Notes app.

Also, most third party notes apps get pretty regular app updates.

The Apple Notes app ONLY gets one major upgrade/update per year. When a new iOS/iPadOS is introduced every Fall.

Just sayin’.

Going from Notability to Apple Notes is going to be a HUUUGE downgrade for you.

Thank you MichelPM for your honest feedback. It really helps a lot!

I have missed a few features that Notability has, however I have not been able to take notes in Notability with artistic ability like they show on the GingerLabs website.

Any suggestions on how to make notes in notability more visually pleasing?

Thanks,

Luke

It’s YOUR handwriting, whether cursive or printed handwriting, if you have bad handwriting, then there is no niotes app that is going to help with that, other than you constantly practicing your own handwriting more regularly on your iPad to get better writing more neatly and legibly.

Most of the paid notes app have smart zoom where you can write normally in a magnified, zommed in area that can make your handwriting, at least look more uniform .

You also, have the option in Notability to add/toggle on/off a paper grid in subdued colors to help to give your handwriting a much straighter look.

You simply need to practice to get better handwriting OR simply go back to typing out all your notes OR using Notability's audio recording feature to record a lecture or presentation, then hand transcribe or type the audio later and delete the audio.

My hand printing is much better than my cursive writing as I worked in engineering and did s lot of hand drawing/draughting/and hand lettering for many, many years!

So, my hand printing of letterforms is much neater than my cursive writing, which has gone by the wayside, somewhat, over the years.

Search YouTube for videos to help you with handwriting in Notability and other major third party notes apps for iPad/iPadOS.

There are plenty of videos that should help you with your handwriting difficulties/issues.

Best of Luck to You!

I have switched back to Notability after having had spent time with Apple Notes. It is not that Apple Notes is a bad app, but Notability does have a few more features that I did miss when I was using Apple Notes. It would be great for Notability to have a less cluttered interface as Apple Notes, but it is what is.

Nevertheless, thank you for your input! It is very appreciated.
