Can I update Safari on my Mac 10.11?

Can Safari be updated on an old Mac running on El Capitan 10.11? If so, how?

The current version of Safari for El Capitan is 11.1.2. If you need a browser newer than that, upgrade the OS if possible, or switch to one such as Firefox.

If your version of Safari is older than 11.1.2, open the Mac App Store and install any Safari or security updates.
