iPhone won’t turn off of mute

My iPhone XS won’t turn off of mute I switch the switch and nothing happens cheers

Hey there Phibbs1,


We'd like to help get the Ring/Silent switch working correctly.


As you also mentioned your iPhone puts itself on mute, we believe this to have something to do with the first issue.


While your iPhone may need to be looked at by a technician, we'd like to rule out some basics first:

  1. We see you have iOS 14 installed, but the latest version is 14.3. You can verify which version number is installed within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to first back up, then Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  2. If you already have iOS 14.3 installed, this link shows how to Restart your iPhone.
  3. You'll want to test for the same issue without a case on your iPhone. If there's one, it may be blocking something or even inadvertently causing the issue with the Ring/Silent switch.
