"MacBook battery exploded: This laptop Just blew up and almost caused a fire. The smoke was unreal. Anyone else had this happen? The fire department said the battery exploded in the laptop. Not good Apple!"

Warranty:

Just how old is this MacBook? Apple grants you a one-year, out-of-the-box, limited-warranty. So, if it has been less than a year, or if it is covered under AppleCare, I would recommend you contact Apple Support, seeing what your options are for coverage.

Properly Disposing of This:

As for disposing of it, go to your local Transfer Station (dump), asking for the proper procedure to do proceed with disposing it. There are contaminants in it.
