Here is information on Kernel Panics. If your Mac restarted because of a problem - Apple Support

I don't know where you would learn about kernel extensions short of the developer website.

The panic log rarely tells you where the problem might lie. Sometimes there are hints at what it might be related to, hardware-wise, but rarely anything concrete. Since kernel panics are predominately caused by third-party kernel extensions and hardware faults, the most useful part is the loaded kexts section which tells you if you have any third-party kexts loaded when the panic occurred.


You can post the whole panic log into the Additional Text area (document icon in reply toolbar).
