If you have transferred all data from your old to new iPad - and you intend to fully erase the old iPad of all data, the simplest and most effective way to do so is to follow this procedure:

What to do before you sell, give away or trade in your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – Apple Support

This process with fully wipe the iPad, removing the Activation Lock - and preparing the iPad for reuse by a new user.

Erasing the iPad will not impact data on your new iPad in any way.
