Location does not work with ethernet connection as well as weather widget etc ... when wifi is off!

I do not use wifi in my home. everything is wired, but


when wifi is off on my Powerbook 16" Location does not work with ethernet connection as well as weather widget etc ... even timezone does not work and ask for wifi!

You Mac will establish your connection to the Internet using the TOPMost, Working interface shown in

system preferences > Network


any other interfaces shown there, even if working, are ignored for Internet connection.


However, your Mac appears to REQUIRE Wi-Fi to be turned on to get certain Location information from your Router.


I set my Wi-Fi ON, but secondary to Ethernet (use the Gear Icon to "Set service order") and no Wi-Fi traffic is generated, but Location works great.

As outlined in the Allow apps to detect the location of your Mac article, "Your approximate location is determined using information from local Wi-Fi networks, and is collected by Location Services in a manner that doesn’t personally identify you.". You would need Wi-Fi turned on.
