Mac mail

In Mac mail I have lost the toolbar in New Message which shows fonts and colors as well as other formatting tools such as strikeouts and italics. It has always been there, and it is there on my Powerbook. How do I restore it?

Part of my Mac mail format is missing Hi, I am missing the third column on the right. I have the mailboxes column, the sort by column and the third column on the right with the message etc.is gone.
