sync error -50

Why do i get a sync error when I sync my iPhone with my MacBook - I like to change the music periodically - hence the need for an updated sync. (BTW, I don't use spotify or apple music - maybe a bit of a luddite but it is a choice i am making)

The message I get is: The iPhone “CS iPhone” cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-50).
