Sending full size Photos
I'm trying to send a full size photo (5.3MB) from my Mac via Mail or iCloud. It keeps reducing it to 1.8MB. Any advice, please?

Export the image from Photos
File-> Export -> Unmodified Original
and attach that.
Export the image from Photos

Once in Mail set the file size to Actual Size in the Image Size menu at the far right of the From line:
Then export the image using the file -> export command and in this case use the dialogue to set the Quality to High. This will produce a jpeg that may even be a little larger than the original.
Size, in Mail, refers to dimensions rather than file size.
Thanks - I've tried that but unfortunately the photo I need to send was cropped, straightened and slightly edited from the original. Following your suggestion takes it back to the original which won't do for the purpose I need it. Preview doesn't enable cropping and editing.
That's sorted it, thanks, though I needed to set the quality to Maximum - High again set it to the reduced 1.8MB. Thanks for your prompt help.
I tried this at the start but I'm afraid it doesn't do it. See answer from Terence below. Thanks for responding, though.
