WatchOS Update Regularly Fails to Have Enough Space

Hello community,

I have an Apple Watch Series 3 Nike edition. As of WatchOS 7, whenever there is a new release it is regularly the case that I get a message that my watch lacks sufficient storage space to do the update. This does not get fixed if I remove all the applications on the watch and all the music, which seems like a bug. The only way to fix this is to fully reset the watch and then do the WatchOS update. While I was ok doing this once, the fact that I have to regularly do this whenever a new WatchOS is released is very burdensome. Has anyone else had this issue, and/or found a way to surmount this?

This is why that is what works.

To free storage space on  Watch -

Using the Watch app on the paired iPhone, unpair the watch. Then repair the watch. Doing so frees up storage space by deleting temporary files, corrupted files and then reindexing the filing system.

M1 Mac mini, macOS 11.1; Watch, series 5 GPS/cellular, watchOS 7.2; iPad Pro 2nd Gen, iPadOS 14.3; iPad Air 2, iPadOS 14.3; iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14.3; TV 4th Gen, tvOS 14.3  HomePods, audioOS 14.3 and Airport Express w/ Airplay 2
